Expo 2027 Málaga to attend Fitur

Málaga Attends the 171st BIE assembly in Paris to defend its candidature to host the 2027 World Expo

The Spanish Embassy in Paris host a reception, to which all BIE delegates and other candidate teams are invited. These receptions are part of the activities that each candidate city must organise and the date is fixed by the BIE.

The Enquiry Mission of the Bureau International des Expositions arrives in Spain today and will be visiting Madrid and Málaga until Friday.

The Finance Minister and spokesperson for the government of Spain, María Jesús Montero, showed her support for Málaga’s plans to host the World Expo in 2027. During her visit to the city and when asked by the press, she explained that “the Spanish government is going to support any type of application that allows us to be an international benchmark. It’s clear that Málaga meets all the requirements and all the conditions to host such an event. Naturally, since the application is feasible, the government of Spain will be there, as it always has been.”

During an extraordinary general meeting, the City of Málaga’s Social Council approved including the Expo Málaga 2027 plans on the Unique Projects’ drawing board.

The BIE publishes on its website their visit to Malaga as a city with intentions to apply to host a specialized International Expo in 2027.

The secretary general of the International Office of Exhibitions (BIE, Bureau International des Expositions) Dimitri Kerkentzes visits Malaga to learn about the city's offer for the celebration of an International Exhibition in 2027. The trip schedule includes a visit to the proposed site location for the Expo as well as two meetings: one with the Malaga Mayor, Francisco de la Torre; the Counsellor of the Presidency of the Regional Andalusian Government, Elías Bendodo; the President of the Provincial Government, Francisco Salado; the acting Government Sub-delegate, Juan Pedro Carnero; City Council members and representatives of the opposition political groups; the Rector of the University of Malaga, Jose Ángel Narvaez; the Secretary General of the CEM, Natalia Sanchez and the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Sergio Cuberos, among others. The second meeting took place with leaders from the business community, civil society, professional associations and unions.
