National Commission formed for Málaga’s candidature to host Expo 2027

The National Commission held its first meeting and approved its statutes, among others

The National Commission, which coordinates all the actions required for Málaga’s candidature to host the 2027 World Expo: “The Urban Era: towards the Sustainable City”, was constituted on 5 April 2022. This commission, which represents the Spanish government, Málaga City Council, the Andalucían Regional Government and Málaga County Council, has approved its statutes during its hybrid formalisation session.

As announced with the approval of this commission by the Council of Ministers, it is assigned to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation and has the following duties:

a. Promote Málaga’s campaign as host of EXPO Málaga 2027.

b. Maintain the necessary relations with the Bureau International des Expositions.

c. Coordinate the participation of all public administrations in the preparation of EXPO Málaga 2027.

d. Engage collaboration from the private sector, as well as other actors considered appropriate.

e. Any other action deemed necessary to fulfil its general objectives
